SOLO SHOW – TING TING ART SPACE (TAIWAN)
Riccardo Nannini’s solo exhibition at Ting Ting Art Space brings together a wide selection of paintings produced between 2020 and 2024, tracing a crucial phase in the artist’s practice. Conceived as a partial retrospective, the exhibition reunites works recovered from private collections alongside pieces never previously exhibited, offering a broader and more layered view of the visual and conceptual evolution that has shaped his work over the last years.
The exhibition focuses on a period in which Nannini developed dense and highly detailed scenes populated by figures performing an exaggerated version of contemporary normality — social rituals, collective behaviors and everyday absurdities pushed to the edge of comedy. Beneath the playful surface, saturated palette and comic-like visual language lies a more critical and intellectual reflection on contemporary life, where humor becomes a way of exposing tension, alienation and the theatrical nature of social behavior. Deeply influenced by Flemish painting and historical genre scenes, these works reinterpret that tradition through a contemporary sensibility: crowded compositions, fragmented micro-narratives and an excess of visual information transformed into images that are at once entertaining, unsettling and psychologically layered.
